The New MastersoundsĀ are a funk, jazz and soul four-piece from Leeds, in the U.K. They just released a live studio album, The Nashville Sessions, aĀ 10-track collection recorded at Welcome To 1979 studio in Nashville. It was multi-tracked live onto one-inch tape in a single evening session in front of a small studio audience. It hasĀ no guests and no overdubs, just bass, drums, guitar and organāessentially pure New Mastersounds. Their 2015Ā album, Made for Pleasure, is their tenth studio album and it will cause anyone and everyone to shake their booties all the way down the track list. The uptempo funk, jazz fusion ignites any party instantly, but the record is balanced with retro-soulful serenades like “Pho Baby” and “Tranquilo.” Check out the title track “Made For Pleasure” in this full-set recording (at the 12:00 mark).
TurkuazĀ is a power funk 9-piece group from Brooklyn, New York who have been taking the music scene by storm with their last album,Ā Digitonium, their 5th in studio. The album is a 24-track masterpiece that is an auditory journey through futuristic funk, with great hits such as “Night Swimming,” “Murderface,” and the title track “Digitonium.” Also, they have produced a music video for the track “Doktor Jazz.”
