Dripping with authenticity that makes you listen to his keen ballads of heartache and soaring high in the groove that earns his the name “Screaming Eagle of Soul,” the Brooklyn-based and internationally known soul powerhouse Charles Bradley is sure to get your heart tingling and your feet moving all night long with support by the folks at Daptone Records (Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, the Budos Band, the Menahan Street Band).

Bradley’s previous two albums, No Time for Dreaming (2011) and Victim of Love (2013), both received attention from major music magazines, and Rolling Stone, SPIN, and MOJO have already named his upcoming release as one of the Most Anticipated Albums of 2016. He will release his third album Changes on April 1, named for his beautiful R&B reworking of the eponymous 1972 Black Sabbath song. In Bradley’s words, “Music, cooking, whatever you’re doing, if you do it from the heart, it’s good. So that’s what I do,” and the man is true to his word. The ”Changes” music video features Charles’ cathartic dedication to his art by looking straight into the camera while reflecting on the changes in his own life. This continues until he wells up.

Not only can Bradley move you on the inside, but his beginnings as a James Brown impersonator prove that his skilled showmanship can turn Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold” into a powerful soul train of a song with emcee’d introduction, one legged shimmy, and all. Did I mention this guy is in his upper 60’s, and STILL nailing James Brown dance moves?
