PREVIEW: Max Norton (of Benjamin Booker), Jessica Vacha & Simon Palombi, Kristopher James, Adam Lee, Stephen Rock | Will’s Pub, Orlando, FL | Friday, November 4, 2016

Max Norton may sit just behind or beside Benjamin Booker, (a pretty great view) during most shows but the drummer has songs of his own and something to say. Although the singer/songwriter in his own right is currently located in Nashville, he hails from sunny Tampa. He identifies himself inside the genre of psychedelic folk rock but cites the sun, surf, desert, and 1960’s as inspiration for his music. Norton is set to release his solo record, Blood Moon, later this year and it is with much anticipation we all await its birth. Here’s just a taste:

We’re lucky enough to catch him on the best stage in Orlando with a slew of names who only make this show all the more enticing. Jessica Vacha is a local musician whose artist description makes me wonder why we are not already friends:

“Coffee, running, yoga and whiskey is where most of my time goes. Parks and basketball don’t hurt none neither.” 

Sounds like the perfect lazy Saturday to me. Her influences range from Nat King Cole to Iron & Wine and with inspiration like that it’s no wonder her music shines with a fervent urgency.

Add in a dash of Simon Palombi, Kristopher James, Adam Lee, and Stephen Rock, and we’ve got ourselves a nice evening lined up. Each artist compliments each other, allowing the unique sound to ebb into the next; a soothing estuary to your next swimming spot.

Kristopher James is a Florida native as well, coming from Bradenton. His ability to paint a picture of life’s often complicated map of love, lust, loss, and doubt will have you both lost and found. Adam Lee is no stranger to life on the road with his band The Dead Horse Sound Company. His low baritone is the perfect partner for a weary traveler like himself and his band. There’s nothing but empty asphalt ahead and plenty of dancing to be had.
