House of Blues Orlando really outdid themselves with the beer selection this time around, bringing back favorites like Funky Buddha and Barley Mow and adding breweries like Swamp Head and Two Henrys to the mix. Last year, I attended my first Local Brews Local Grooves event at House of Blues Orlando. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into but I figured anything that involved both music and beer couldn’t be too bad. I had so much fun that I promised myself I would never miss this event again. I was able to try some rare beers by some of my favorite breweries like Cigar City and Funky Buddha as well as discover new breweries like Rock Brothers.

Local Brews

This year’s Local Brews Local Grooves takes place on Saturday June 13, 2015 (Win tickets below). Check out the full list of this year’s local brews below.

Barley Mow Brewing Co: Largo, FL

The Unkindness – American Black Ale 7.4% ABV
This is the beer that got it all started…We used a ton of hops for both bittering and aroma. It’s dark, but don’t be fooled, it’s not nearly as roasty as it appears.

Selkie – Belgian Rye Pale Ale 5.1% ABV
This unique beer has a combination of fruity Belgian yeast and rye spice followed by a smooth biscuity finish. It’s citrusy, herbal, and delicious.

Bold City Brewery: Jacksonville, FL

Orange Screamsicle – 4.5% ABV
This brew uses sweet orange peel, big fat bourbon vanilla beans and a bit of milk sugar to achieve that flavor we all knew as a kid, an ice cold Creamsicle Popsicle!

Barrel Aged Roxy’s Imperial Cream Ale – 9.5% ABV
We take our Roxy’s Imperial Cream Ale and age it using bourbon barrels. The final outcome…a golden color, smooths tasting double cream ale with a hint of bourbon and subtle sweetness.

Brew Hub: Lakeland, FL

Keybilly Island Ale – Key Lime Blonde Ale 4.5% ABV
Pale and Crystal malt and enough Cascade and Chinook hops to balance the beer. Brewmasters then add a hint of authentic world-renowned key lime juice to give Keybilly its unique, refreshing flavor.

Pool Hop – Session IPA 4.5% abv
Brewmasters start with a complex array of two-row American malt and add fresh Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops. Once brewed, more fresh hops are added to give Pool Hop its signature citrusy aroma and crisp bite.

Darwin Brewing Co: Bradenton, FL

Summadayze IPA – 6.0% ABV
A crisp, dry IPA with notes of citrus, pineapple, and grapefruit. Crisp and refreshing middle of the road IPA long on flavor.

Ayawasca – Belgian Dubbel 8.0% ABV
Caramel and toffee, malty with hints of chocolate. A tradition Belgian Strong Ale with South American twist

Dogfish Head Brewery: Milton, DE

120 IPA – Imperial IPA 15-20% ABV
Boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped, dry-hopped, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. This is the Holy Grail for Hopheads.

Sixty-One – IPA infused with red wine ABV 6.5%
A Dogfish beer/wine hybrid specialty, this beer is Dogfish Head’s best-selling 60 Minute IPA plus one new ingredient: syrah grape must from California.

Festina Peche – Berliner Weissbier ABV 4.5%
This is a refreshing neo-Berliner style Weissbier fermented with Peaches. Tart flavors of juicy peaches, nectarine skins, and Granny Smith apples offer a sourish citrus palate smack.

Florida Avenue Brewing Co: Tampa, FL

Florida Ave Ale – American Wheat Ale 4.7% ABV
A clean, crisp, American Wheat Ale brewed with a hint of citrus that says Florida! Two row pale malts/ malted wheat, German hallertau and tettnang hops.

Florida Avenue Grapefruit Hefeweizen – 4.5% ABV
A Florida Hefeweizen made with grapefruit peel, rose hips, sarsaparilla, elder berry, grains of paradise, and coriander. It will have a noticeable spice flavor finish with citrus notes and a strong citrus aroma.

Funky Buddha Brewery: Oakland Park, FL

Hop Gun IPA ABV: 7.0%
This IPA bursts forth with the flavors of grapefruit and pineapple. Then, a careful dose of smooth caramel malts swoop in to balance out the finish, just like any good wingman should.

Blueberry Cobbler Ale ABV: 5.4%
Blueberry Cobbler ale is a copiously blueberried glass of goodness, generously dosed with real vanilla beans, quality imported cinnamon, and blueberries.

Swamp Head Brewery: Gainesville, FL

Day Trippin’ – Session IPA ABV: 4.5%
Meet Day Trippin’, a Session IPA brewed with 4 different types of hops and an ABV that will allow you to enjoy a full day of your favorite Florida outdoor activities.

Eternal – Blonde Ale ABV: 4.75%
Eternal Blonde Ale will speak to you with a floral and lemony citrus hop nose that is appropriately supported by a soft and slightly sweet malt backbone.

Two Henrys Brewing Co: Plant City, FL

Mango Cider – ABV 6.2%
Our Traditional Hard Cider blended with a touch of mango for that tropical flavor just in time for the summer’s heat.

Roasted Jalapeño Blueberry Porter – Brown Porter ABV 5.5%
Aged porter on roasted Jalapenos and fresh Blueberry puree. Low hop but strong jalapeño and blueberry aromas. Medium body and not too spicy.

Wops Hops Brewing Company: Sanford, FL

Romulus RYE PORTER – ABV 5.6%
Our rye porter is malty, super rich with flavor and has a slight rye spicy bite on the back end along with a silky dry finish. Pairs easily with all types of bar foods, pizza, wings and burgers.

Irish Red Ale – ABV 5.6%
This deep red colored Irish ale has a caramel-like or toffee-like taste. Very clean, refreshing finish with a light taste of roasted grain and balanced hoppiness. You will want to have several pints of our Irish Red!

American Pale Ale – ABV 5.9%
Our APA is brewed with Warrior Hops for bittering and Cascade for taste and aroma. This Ale is a pale golden color and is refreshing with malt presence and hoppy finish.

Hail Caesar! (American Blonde Ale) – ABV 5.6
A traditional blonde ale, we hopped it with only Sorachi Ace Hops which gives this smooth light colored ale a lemony crisp finish with a lemon grass aroma.
