FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orlando, Florida – The Groove Orient is thrilled to announce the release of their debut single
“Bugs” in anticipation of their self titled album “The Groove Orient” available everywhere on
March 16, 2019.
“The Groove Orient” is the band’s first full length album. “Bugs” is the first installment of single
releases from the forthcoming album and is the only song on the album recorded entirely at Full
Sail University in Orlando, FL.
The Groove Orient just announced their spring tour dates including a string of northeast shows
supporting Hayley Jane and The Primates, a handful of Southeastern performances including a
FL tour supporting Tauk, and their hometown album release show, March 16 at Will’s Pub in
Orlando, FL . This will be The Groove Orients first tour since joining the Hoplite booking agency
in late 2018.
The Groove Orient Biography
Starting out as a school project that formed for a one-time college music festival,
Southern rock quintet The Groove Orient exploded onto the festival scene in 2016. The
band soon found themselves bolstered by multiple Orlando Weekly “Best of Orlando”
awards and a rabid fanbase. “The Oriented,” as the band refers to their fans, are fueled
by The Groove Orient’s face-melting concert experiences at the city’s top music venues.
On their forthcoming self-titled debut album, The Groove Orient intends to bring the
howling energy of their hometown shows to the world.
The Groove Orient electrifies classic sounds with detail-obsessed composition. Bringing
life to signature songs including Allman-infused blues romp “Hot Bandit Woman”, ballsy
rocker “Golden Hour”, and frenetic prog on fan-favorite “Bugs”, the boys churn up a
thick stew of American music worthy of their native Florida swamp. While all the flash
and muscle of a no-holds-barred rock band is on full display, The Groove Orient also
shines on more restrained excursions such as the chilled-out funk of “What Up”, and
inspired slow-burn blues masterpieces “Downtown Virgin” and “Golden Rule”.
Unafraid to push well past the 8-minute mark on multiple songs, the band leaves space
for copious doses of improvisational passages to demonstrate the group’s formidable
instrumental chops. (They are music majors, after all..) In between boisterous gang
vocal choruses, the band gives listeners a window to their adventurous live show,
constantly thrilling through complex percussion textures, gorgeous atmospheric
keyboards, and thrilling lead guitar heroics.
It’s no surprise that the band’s live home in downtown Orlando, Tanqueray’s bar, gets a
specific name drop in The Groove Orient’s liner notes. One of the
entertainment-obsessed city’s top live music bars, the band’s long-standing residencies
have given them the perfect setting to hone their craft. In a short few years they’ve
earned a reputation one of the hardest-working bands in Florida, and through an
ambitious debut full-length, The Groove Orient bellows in celebration of an arrival to the
national circuit. Look out for them on tour throughout the US in 2019 and beyond.
This single is insane! Just wait till you realize you’re shaking your ass around the office. It’s uncontrollable. Everything past the four minute mark is soul-shaking magic! The guitar solo lifts my spirit and brings me tangible happiness. Thank you gentlemen.
