Death Cab For Cutie

Saturday, October 20, 2018 | 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Grammy-nominated indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie will return to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, October 20, 2018 with special guest Charly Bliss. This will be the Death Cab for Cutie’s second time taking the stage at the Amp; their previous performance was in June of 2016. Death Cab for Cutie’s October 20 show is presented in partnership with the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Foundation Presents, and JaxLive.

Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band is composed of Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGerr, Dave Depper, and Zac Rae. Death Cab for Cutie rose from being a side project to becoming one of the most exciting groups on the indie rock scene of the 2000’s, with their emotive songwriting and cross-genre sound landing somewhere between indie and emo. They have been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album for their most recent release, 2015’s Kintsugi. Their ninth studio album is released later this year.

Charly Bliss is an indie rock band from New York City that blend loud, messy rock sounds with super catchy melodies and pop hooks. As the story goes, the band officially started when frontwoman Eva Hendricks and guitarist Spencer Fox, both just 15, crossed paths at a Tokyo Police Club show in New York City, but the ties within the band go much deeper than that. “It’s kind of insane and hilarious,” says Eva, “Sam is my older brother, so obviously we’ve known each other our whole lives, but all of us have been connected to each other since we were little kids. Dan Shure and I dated when we were in our early teens and he and Spencer went to summer camp together. Dan and I broke up years ago, but eventually he’d become our bass player. The reason we all get along so well has to do with the fact we share this ridiculous history. We are all deeply embedded in each other’s lives.”
