The Music Exchange at 1920 felt like walking into a different side of Ybor. The space was welcoming, colorful and filled with local artwork. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, giving it a little elegance, but the old building still let you know exactly where you were.

Frankie Wheeler opened the night with a smooth voice and a warm acoustic sound. George Pennington and the Odyssey came up next. If you’ve never seen George play, imagine every guitar hero rolled into one and coming alive for a night.

Light the Wire followed with a packed stage, a violin and some serious Fleetwood Mac energy. They kept the room moving and feet stomping. Then Cozy and the Black came on. From her first cry, her people made their way to the floor. Her voice has a way of cutting through everything, and once the band gets going, you really don’t have a choice but to move.

Pilot Jones brought a ton of energy, but there was also a vulnerability in his music that made it easy to connect with. Saints of Saturn closed the night with the look, sound and attitude of a band determined to keep rock and roll alive.

What stood out most was the amount of talent in one room. Tampa’s music scene is deep, exciting and full of artists worth discovering. The Music Exchange brought all of that together for one colorful, unforgettable night.
