Umphrey’s McGee returns to the historical Tabernacle in the ATL for a three-night rock show starting Friday, January 13, with Saturday and Sunday shows to follow. No opening acts have been announced (yet…?). The Tabernacle is a marvelous venue with good views, great sounds, and plenty of dancing room on the floor and the multi-tiered balconies. Umphrey’s is coming off a three-night new year’s eve run in their hometown of Chicago. Two years ago, they played a five-night run for NYE at The Tabby. I went to the first two nights (Dec 30 & 31). They actually wore robes for the encore of the Jan 2 show… #RestRobeRepeat. Anyway, I was blown away with how incredible that room is. It’s a great mid-sized venue (about 2,600 capacity) and is beautifully decorated with stained glass windows as it was originally a church way back in the day. Who’s ready to get preached? The Sober Goat and Shows I Go To are prepared to go to church! \mm/
I’m still reeling from my most recent UM show where the McGee boys played two nights at the almighty Suwannee Hulaween under the stars and night shadows within the wondrous Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. Watch the full set videos below.
Lastly, UM is returning to Red Rocks in Denver where they have started a Fourth of July weekend tradition known as Umph Rocks. Last year they played their first two-night run at the venue, and they return this year for three nights (June 30 and July 1 & 2) alongside special guests Stick Figure, Snarky Puppy, and Bruce Honsby & The Noisemakers.
