The Birthday Massacre, Army Of The Universe

TBM formed in 1999, they were known as Imagica. This name was inspired from the fantasy novel Imajica (1991) by Clive Barker. In 2002, they changed the name to The Birthday Massacre after one of their earlier songs in order to avoid confusion with another group. The song “The Birthday Massacre” was then renamed to “Happy Birthday”. According to their vocalist Chibi: “it kind of works well for the music that we’re making. Sort of contrasty, you know? Birthday, and massacre. Light, and dark. Cute, and evil.” TBM have released six studio albums: Nothing and Nowhere (2002), Violet (2005), Walking With Strangers (2007), Pins and Needles (2010), Hide and Seek (2012), and Superstition (2014). Their seventh studio album, Under Your Spell, will be released on June 8, 2017. Influences and similar artists include: Dommin, Aural Vampire, Die Mannequin, Schoolyard Heroes, theStart, Deadsy, The Faint, The Cure, Curve, Tub Ring, Creature Feature, Julien K, MSI, The Knife, Depeche Mode, The Corner, etc.

Army of the Universe is an Italian industrial dance band, now located in Los Angeles, formed in 2008 by trance and techno producer Albert Vorne (aka Trebla) and vocalist Lord K, lead singer of Kult of the Skull God. The band also includes guitarist Davide Tavecchia. Their most recent album, 1999 & The Aftershow, was released in 2016. Influences and similar artists include: Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Prodigy, Depeche Mode, Danzig, Misfits, Billy Idol, Deftones, The Chemical Brothers, Skinny Puppy, Faith No More, etc.

Keeping with the theme, The Ludovico Technique is a heavy dark electronic band. FYI: The band name is a reference to Anthony Burgess’ novel A Clockwork Orange and Stanley Kubrick’s film adaptation, where it was referred to as “Ludovico’s Technique.”
