“A room full of awkward boners.” That is what someone told me I should expect when attending the Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque show at The Plaza Live in Orlando. Well, that’s not what I got. Not at all. It turned out to be a pretty fantastic performance of sexy, talented dancers backed by some awesome music and whiskey.

They began with rules. First, they told us to take out our phones. I expected to be told what “not to do” next, as rules are normally “don’ts,” rather than “dos.” But, the rule that tour manager/host Sunnie Suicide made clear was certainly a “do.”

“Please make sure you take as many pictures of us as you can all night long! Tag #BlackheartBurlesque and @SuicideGirls

Wait. Am I being politely told to take a bunch of pictures of smoking hot, half naked women all night? Yes? Ok. Deal. (Lindsay did too. And her pictures are much better than mine, NSFW pictures at the bottom of this post.

They began their performance with a Die Antwoord song; all coming out dressed as different animals. They stripped down to thongs, sundies, and pasties through the song. The room was certainly filled with hungry eyes, both men and women.Β But, there was something else we all unanimously shared which lasted the entire evening: Smiles. Yes, it was fucking sexy, much like a Knoxville stripper for hire, but more than anything, it was a lot of fun.

Throughout the evening each individual Suicide Girl received time for a solo performance. They flipped back and forth between solo performances and group performances, breaking it up just right to keep it interesting. The girls were keen on crowd participation, getting the audience into whatever they were doing, often very literally.

They repeatedly brought members of the audience on stage to dance, party, strip, and read. Yes, read. They invited a guy onstage, gave him a short story to read over a few minutes, and told him he’d get a free one year membership to Suicide Girls if he passed a quiz on the story. The part I’m leaving out is, the whole time he was reading, he had a Suicide Girl dancing all over him. He did not answer most of the questions correctly, and was pretty proud of it.

The highlights were definitely when they performed the Regina Spektor song “You’ve Got Time,” which also serves as the theme song to the Netflix Original Series, Orange Is The New Black, and they dressed appropriately. And when they all came out dressed as sexy Storm Troopers from Star Wars.

One of the most hilarious points of the night was when Sunnie Suicide performed a lewd, sexual version of The Little Mermaid‘s theme song with her own lyrics. I remember the line “fishes with tits” between all the laughing. She’s one hell of a performer, to say the least.

All I can say is I’ll surely be back to watch these sexy, talented girls perform. They shattered those “awkward boner” expectations of mine. My boner was not awkward. Not one bit. πŸ˜‰

If you haven’t done so, I highly recommend you check out their website and become a member of Suicide Girls. Below are some NSFW pictures of what you may or may not have missed, courtesy of the talented Lindsay Tompkins Photography.
