STREAM: new Death Cab For Cutie album, ‘Kintsugi’

Earlier this year (February), we said Death Cab For Cutie released the best song of 2015 thus far, “Black Sun.” And, we still stand by this.

We speculated what is seeming to become truth: The album is a breakup record.

The video for the lead single, “Black Sun,” shows a woman who enjoys emotionally beating people down. Someone who lacks empathy, even. We said this woman represents Ben Gibbard’s ex-wife, Zooey Deschanel, and the man being hit my the car represents Ben. The new Death Cab For Cutie album, Kintsugi, is slated for release on March 31, 2015 (stream the new album below). The album title is derived from kintsugi, a type of Japanese art involving fixing broken pottery, and as a philosophy of treating breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
