Want a fresh perspective on the week in Hip Hop news? Here’s our take on some of the biggest stories of the past seven days.

THE SIMPSONS TO AIR HOUR-LONG HIP HOP THEMED EPISODE

The episode is set to include an appearance by Tarajii P. Henson of Empire fame and Keegan Michael Key of Key & Peele. Hard to believe it’s the shows’ first ever hour-long episode, and it’s just now delving into Hip Hop. Oh well…better late than never.

ISAIAH RASHAD ALBUM IS NEXT UP FOR TDE

Rashad’s debut album Cilvia Demo was released in 2014 to critical acclaim. He announced that his new album is set for release on September 2 at the end of his new video “Free Lunch.” Peep the video for “Free Lunch” below.

FANS TREATED FOR ALCOHOL POISONING AT SNOOP DOGG / WIZ KHALIFA CONCERT

Not good news for these two weed aficionados. TMZ reports that 11 of the 35 victims were sent to the hospital, while 25 of them were underage. Looks like it might be pay-up time for Snoop and Wiz on this one.

NEW JOEY BADA$$ VIDEO “DEVASTATED”

Joey takes us back to the days of Friday night high school football and the neighborhood with his video, which also serves as an ode to New York. Not hard to tell why he’s one of today’s most revered young emcees. Have a look for yourself at “Devastated.”

SIX NEW TRAILERS FOR DONALD GLOVER’S NEW FX SHOW ATLANTA

Glover (aka Childish Gambino) has a new show premiering September 2. And with it, FX has released six 15-seecond trailers which don’t seem to give much info on the show. But that doesn’t mean we’re any less intrigued. Have a peek at one of them here.

THE WEEKND DONATES $250,000 TO BLACK LIVES MATTER ORGANIZATION

The Toronto R&B singer is just the latest in a growing list of mainstream celebrities supporting the organization. The donation comes one week after he donated $50,000 to the University of Toronto. Say what you will about him, but it looks like The Weeknd is growing into quite the philanthropist for a new generation.
