The chameleons of sound, Slightly Stoopid, are back — and you won’t want to miss their stop for the “Return of the Red Eye” tour at the Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg on August 14.

It’s the ultimate combination: Florida sunshine, evolutionary skate punk-reggae-blues-folk-funk-metal fusion, and the sweet vibes of a Slightly Stoopid show. The giants have risen to the sort of fame that lines them right next to their mentors, Sublime with Rome.

Even Sean Dorsett praised their last stop in St. Pete last summer in his live review. 

Maybe it was just my state of mind (hehe ? )  or the fact I was surrounded with good friends, but there seemed to be more soul radiating from this set compared to the previous show. It might have been Slightly Stoopid’s effort to make up for the awful weather, but in any case, it was totally one of the best shows I’ve seen so far this year.

Now that’s the kind of afternoon I’d like to have.

They’re the San Diego DIY-ers that surged into popularity, providing the very reason why DIY matters so much to so many bands. After all, if Slightly Stoopid can make songs like “This Joint” and “Collie Man” work for so many audiences, can’t new bands do the same on their own terms?
