Ethereal, charming, and catchy. These are the best descriptors for the electro-pop act Purity Ring. You won’t want to wait “Another Eternity” to catch this tour, and we’re lucky enough to have the duo sweep through the Ritz Ybor on September 10, 2015 (win tickets below!).
With doses of hip hop influence and breathy synth, Canadian duo Megan James and Corin Roddick have taken a piano and drums act and transformed into a surreal electronic act. The trance vibes are eclectic, echoing that transcends what most electro-pop offers. It’s a sincere, soulful sound layered with technicality.
I’m really hoping I can see these awesome glowing diamond things. I mean, it’s already a beautiful experience as far as stage presence. No cheesy Microsoft screen savers to be found here!
Check out “Heartsigh,” about a minute in. If the Ritz is as blaring-ly loud and in love with Megan, it’s guaranteed a beautiful night.
She’s a glittering electro-nymph that somehow makes the electronic feel earthy and transcending. It’s that kind of atmosphere that really makes me swoon-y as far as live music goes.
Following the swoon-y vibes is Los Angeles siren HANA, whose single “Clay” is one of the most hypnotic singles of the year for me. She’s beloved by the likes of Lana del Ray and Lorde, and I can instantly see why. I immediately felt connected to her lyrics and range, and I’m anxious to see live renditions of her soulful, engaging tracks.
I guarantee I’ll be swooning over these sirens at the Ritz. Will you? 🙂
