Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox Live Review + Concert Photos | The Plaza Live Orlando | May 24, 2015

“We started in a basement in New York.”

Scott Bradlee says humbly. I’ve never seen the Plaza Live so packed. Ever. It was insane. Bradlee is a bright light. The way that he precisely pounds his keys is a true form of artistic expression. It’s pure. It’s passionate. It makes him happy. That’s the core theme of this collection of beautiful musicians, they radiate positivity. They’re living their dreams. Not one soul left the Plaza Live without having to wipe a lingering smile off their face. That is magic. That’s why I go to shows.

Postmodern Jukebox is conquering the world in an unlikely way. They have an army of top-notch talent rotating on the front lines. From Sarah Reich’s heartbeat feet to Casey Abram’s bassy soul, this collection of artists know no bounds when it comes to reaching in and filling your veins with life. The kicker? They play all cover songs. But, they do it better than anyone out there could have ever imagined.

Vocalist and American Idol finalist, Haley Reinhart gave me the fucking chills. I was standing next to one of my most respected music critics, who’s 13 years my senior and a bartender at my favorite venue in the world (The Social). He had his hand over his heart. His eyes were watering. He leans over after clapping and says “that was the best cover of a Radiohead song I’ve ever heard.” And, Radiohead is one of his favorite bands of all time. Check out still spine chilling, hair raising, version of “Creep” by Haley & Postmodern Jukebox.

Sometimes people say things to you that come straight from the heart. I believe when someone’s heart speaks to you, you should listen, with wide-open ears. The entire band showed up at our ticket giveaway sponsor’s bar after the show, Barley & Vine Biergarten Orlando. After a few beers, and a large round of Sake Shots, I found myself laughing and sharing a green bowl in my car with master-basser, Casey Abrams (aka Casey Bassy). Casey was on American Idol, season 10, finishing in 6th place, and above all, he is a truly amazing soul. While in our element (in my Honda Element) we talked about how he got to where he is now and the changes he made to get there. “I was going to college for upright bass. I wasn’t happy. I didn’t want to be there. I said to myself,

‘I want to do what famous people do.’ From that point forward, everything changed.”

I feel when you listen to your heart and make a decision to change your life, you will get there. No. Matter. What. Casey is living his dream. He’s a 24-year old inspiration to me, everyone who was in my car that night, and hopefully every single person who reads these words. Go, change your life. Take the risk on something you want and love. If you fail or fall, get back up and don’t you give up until you make it.

“You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might-as-well take a chance at doing what you love.”
