The road was paved with bricks, only dimly lit from above by lanterns lining the streets. The illumination was a welcomed addition to the otherwise dark whirring, couldn’t-be-bothered crowds that normally fill the alleyways of Downtown Disney. I tried desperately not to roll my eyes at all the small, rounded ears assaulting my vision, let alone, the sound of each child wailing vehemently to go into the candy shoppe across the street, tugging at their Mother’s hems. Co-eds intertwined themselves on benches hoping to keep warm; flesh touching flesh. It was an evening marked by chillier weather than normal for Florida. I held a hot chocolate in my hands in hopes my body would soon mirror the drinks steamy temperature. My eyes nervously darted from my phone to the door sitting atop the stairwell whose overhead light, if I could hear it, I imagine to be buzzing like a faulty interrogation room fixture. I was to be met by the tour manager at 5pm. It was 5:38. Anxiety was starting to reach my hands. They shook fervently. I kept my eyes glued to the door, waiting for a sign of life to burst through, only glancing away to check my phone. I looked at the door. Nothing. I checked my phone. Zip. I sipped my hot drink. Warm. Look at the door. Nothing. Check my phone. Zip. Hot drink. Ahhh. Door. Phone. Drink. Nothing. Door. Phone…
“Sarah…”
“…Yes?”
“Right through here, the guys are just warming up and hanging out in the green room. You have 15 minutes,” the manager says before slipping back out the door.
I’m left alone in a beer can littered room, flanked by four Aussie dudes.

That was November 7, 2015. A year after The Griswolds, named after the classic romp, “National Lampoon,”(their favorite film,) dropped their debut album, Be Impressive. Check out the published interview HERE.
PRESENT DAY. Spring 2016. “Hotline Spring” to be more exact. The play on words is a sly tribute to the song of Drake fame and the name of their U.S. Co-headlining tour with sweet, synth duo, Magic Man and boppy af openers, Panama Wedding. The Griswolds’ social media has more than hinted at their time spent on Australian soil toiling away on their new album. Pictures of clear blue pools, lush greenery, and studio sessions clogged my Instagram feed all throughout the Winter transition; making me both jealous and absolutely f-in stoked.
The Griswolds are back in Florida and this time around, the weather is sticky, the shorts are inched up, cheeks are out and it’s time to get down with their insatiable sound from down under, once again.
