Locus of Chiron Orlando

Orlando’s Newest Astronauts: Locus of Chiron | Debut Show January 16 at Will’s Pub w/ Bear In The Woods, The Deep Field Now, and The Everymen (NJ)

by • January 6, 2016

I love good music and great live performances. Having a story significantly tying both together tells me a band is doing it right. Locus of Chiron’s debut record, Stolen Fire, takes you on a futuristic journey through space and time over progressive, math-doom. Each track is a vital piece in the band’s impressive mission.

Blast off with Locus of Chiron on Saturday, January 16 at Will’s Pub in Orlando, FL!

Locus of Chiron Orlando

Read the Captain’s Logs below as Locus of Chiron travel through the solar depths of our galaxy on their spaceship, “Prometheus,” which is also the title of the first song on their record.

Side Note: One of our very own Shows I Go To Staff Writers, Josh Jauz is on drums and vocals in Locus of Chiron.

“Prometheus”
It is the year 2060.  The North Atlantic Space Commission sends its first manned expedition to Titan, the largest moon of Saturn.  It is a mission of discovery.  The song is the opening of the story in which the crew of the Prometheus takes off from Earth and travels to Titan.

“Titan”
The crew lands on Titan and proceeds to execute excavations, mining, etc. They discover something interesting, and ponder what the results of their finding it will be on humanity.  After securing the cargo, they wrap up and prepare to take off and head back to Earth.

“Centaur”
The Prometheus begins the journey home, but as they near 2060 Chiron they get sucked into the orbit of the heavenly body.  The ship breaks down and gets stranded in Chiron’s asteroid rings (similar to the rings of Saturn). Their future is uncertain …

“Circle of Violence”
The crew of Prometheus is wondering if they will die in space.  Feelings of despair threaten to overwhelm them.  However, just shy of a miracle, they manage to repair the ship and break from the gravitational pull of the rings and resume their journey back to Earth.  The primary concern now is the shortage of fuel, food, and other resources.

“Odyssey”
This tells the tale of the arduous trip home, filled with devastating fear and depression.  At its worst, hope returns as it finally seems clear that they will indeed make it home.

“Stolen Fire”
The ship lands safely, the crew is greeted, and the celebrations begin. The knowledge from the exciting discovery is shared with humanity and the world greatly benefits as a whole, but what negative effects the discovery will have remain uncertain …

Locus of Chiron are blasting off with a fleet of companion ships on Saturday, January 16 at Will’s Pub:

The Everymen are being transported from New Jersey. The first track on The Everymen’s 2014 release, Givin’ Up On Free Jazz, is coincidentally titled “Bl’ast Off.” Lead singer, Catherine Herrick knows how to send her voice soaring and control each soft landing.

The Deep Field Now are some of Orlando’s best galactic mechanics. They can repair any ship from any galaxy and know how to get every engine firing. Listen to them start their hyperspace drive in “The First One” below.

Bear In The Woods are releasing their CD, Natural Fur, into the far reaches of space on this important evening. You can check out the first song below, “Rugged Instability.”
