Last year these new years funkateers tried to have their annual celebration in Miami only to be knocked out by looming Covid-19 numbers. As a fledgling group they went door to door at jazz clubs pleading with owners to “let us play.” Lettuce has released eight studio albums and two live records. Inspired by the work of the legendary Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew, Lettuce released Witches Stew in 2017. This live album (released on Friday the 13th) is a party potion. A window into the psychedelic melting pot where red hot jazz meets molten funk. Their latest work, Unify, is the third consecutive album made at Denver’s Colorado Sound Studios, which completes their trilogy of records. Elevate (‘19), Resonate (‘20), and Unify (‘22) match classic funk sounds with Lettuce’s contemporary and stylish approach.

Did you know? Bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes is one bad mamojama! His resume reads like a who’s who of the L.A. hip-hop scene with credits facilitated by Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Eminem, Ne-Yo, DJ Quik, Talib Kweli, Anthony Hamilton, and more. He also worked as a touring bassist for Britney Spears and The Game.

Did you also know? Drummer Adam Deitch’s beats don’t quit! He’s worked with some of the biggest in the music industry (John Scofield, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent) as well as being the touring drummer for Average White Band after graduating from Berklee College of Music. The man even helped out producing The Fugees.
