It’s all kind of a blur, a beautiful, beautiful blur.
Trombones and trumpets ring as my soul willingly leaves my body to float above the crowd amongst ethereal sounds.
“So, it’s true I’ve gone too far to find you
And the thumbprint scar I let define you
Was a myth I made you measure up to
It was all just water, winding by you…”
-“I Am All That I Need”
I’m at complete peace. Lyrics reach me, cleansing my mind from others’ expectations and judgment. I no longer feel alone in the world as an all-consuming love washes over me. An intense love I haven’t felt in a long time. My body remains at seat 123Q while the rest of me experiences spiritual transcendence.
“Turn any eye into the ivy
And I won’t bleed out if I know me
All I need oh don’t deny me
You ended up too strained…”
-“On Another Ocean (January/June)”
Before I know it, I’m grounded again when the music concludes. I try my hardest to cling to every memory, every note, every word, but they slip away; distant now. I’m left with the feelings from the evening which I’m still able to conjure up meagerly. I remember every emotion I felt, and I still feel everything, though the memories are fleeting.
I traveled 880 miles from Florida to Maryland to experience Fleet Foxes this year. There was no way I was going to holdout for the chance that a Florida date would get announced and miss out on purchasing tickets to the Maryland date. Even after I returned back home, still, no Florida date had been announced, until today.
It’s been over SIX years since Fleet Foxes have played Florida, and they’ve only graced our state once. But this time around, Robin Pecknold, Skyler Skjelset, Morgan Henderson, Casey Wescott, and Christian Wargo will take Florida not just once more, but four times on their Spring U.S. Tour.
