Distortion Masters HUM return to Florida for FEST 16!

On Saturday, October 28th, post-rock harbinger’s HUM headline the 8 Seconds stage at FEST 16 in Gainesville, Florida. They anchor the festival with their prestigious spot in the lineup of a massive festival spanning three days and 18 venues that turns the college town into a makeshift musical utopia for the weekend.

It also marks the first opportunity all of us hardcore HUM fans have had to see them again in the Sunshine State after their show co-supporting 90’s monoliths, Failure with modern stoner-doom heavyweights, Torche in late 2015 at House of Blues Orlando. This was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever been to, and it will always be an evening I will never forget. It had a profound impact on me as both a person and musician. HUM’s genre-defining guitar tone and endlessly addictive vocal melodies integrate with pound-you-in-the-face drumming and driving bass grooves to create a sound unlike any before them. They took a long hiatus from touring (and being a band, really) in the late ’90s and tend to only tour in short spurts since their return a couple years ago. While they were known to play reunion shows once a year near their hometown of Champaign, Illinois, touring pretty much never leads to Florida. This is a rare treat.
