Folly Beach, South Carolina-based trio Dangermuffin continue to mature even further in their musical craftsmanship since they were founded in September 2007. “I want to know it and sing it from my soul,” answers Dan Lotti in the opening moments of their 2014 transformative fifth album, Songs for the Universe, in reference to the question: “How can we be whole?”
Dangermuffin’s newest studio album Heritage is set to be released on March 31. Themes of sea, sun, and spiritual connection weave through the eight-track release combining a cohesive blend of Alt-Americana, Island grooves, Folk and Jam. In celebration of the band’s sixth release, Dangermuffin will tour throughout the spring and summer. “To have a song mean something for somebody is the epitome of the best possible thing you want as an artist,” describes Lotti. “I want this album to help as many people as it can.”
Dangermuffin are simply an embodiment of a new consciousness building across their generation, where respect for the Earth and its healing powers outweigh the distractions of modern existence. Dangermuffin is Dan Lotti (vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar), Mike Sivilli (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals) and Steven Sandifer (percussion, drums, upright bass, vocals).
Check out Dangermuffin when they come to Orlando to play Will’s Pub with special guests Savi Fernandez Band (w/ Katie Burkess) and WAS on Thursday, March 23. This show is 21+, 8pm Doors, $10 ADV/$12 DOS Cover. After meeting three years ago at Best Fest in Costa Rica, Dangermuffin and SFB became good friends and kicked off collaborations on stages all over the U.S. It’s been a long time coming for them to team up in Savi’s hometown, so get ready for a night to remember, with possible fire sit ins on both ends! This is also the first hometown show for SFB in six months!
I first heard of and saw Dangermuffin at Wanee Music Festival 2011 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. They were one of my top highlights of the fest. Check out my video of “Moonscapes” below!
Savi Fernandez is no stranger in the Orlando jam scene. His band plays the funkiest reggae around and he sits in regularly with anyone and everyone. They have played numerous festivals including Best Fest (Costa Rica), Hulaween (Suwannee Music Park), Bear Creek Music Festival (Suwannee Music Park), Aura Music Festival (Suwannee Music Park), Purple Hatters Ball (Suwannee Music Park), Orange Blossom Jamboree, Camp Barefoot Festival (WV), Florida Music Festival, Home Team Rally, Gov Fest, Downtown River Jam, Bond Fire Festival, Big and Hearty Fest, Jahlando, Jambando, Camp Jam, Festival, and many more! Recently and the past couple of years the band has also taken their music to international waters like Costa Rica at Best Festival, Barbados and also tours in the Virgin Islands about once to twice a year.
