Remember the Y2K computer scare? A little computer coding problem that was projected to create havoc in computers and computer networks around the world leading up to the 1999-2000 new year. There were predictions of global financial damage and potential crashes of worldwide networking infrastructures because of this millennium bug in the system. Well, also at this time there was also another bug (or arachnid) going around that was predicting the “End of the World” in a place where “No one got left here.” With origins in Jacksonville, this spider has been creeping along, spreading dark infectious tunes into the ears of millions of hosts along the way.

It was the year 2000 and COLD was breaking through the musical immunity barriers. Their second album, 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage, created their own havoc on musical networks with destructive post-grunge alternative rock and the powerful soaring vocals effortlessly escaping from founding member singer/guitarist Scooter Ward. Their follow-up third major album released in 2003, Year of the Spider, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album charts in irony fashion accompanied with the track “Kill the Music Industry.”

Flash forward to 2019-2020 and now we have COVID—yet another bug. Well, also in 2019, COLD released their first album in eight years, The Things We Can’t Stop. This COLD cannot be contained, yet everything seems somewhat “Quiet Now.” Where’s the hand sanitizer at?
