!!! was formed in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer in Sacramento, California, but they are now based in New York City. They released their sixth full-length album, As If, in October 2015. The album is an homage to their Cali roots and gives no remorse to fan’s feelings of their previous album, 2013’s Thr!!!er. Some fans expect them to be punk; everyone wants them to be raw, but they just want to make dance music, a la fresh 1990’s house records. !!! is an enthusiastic mix of hard-hitting indie rock and shameless disco beats with a dash of smooth funk, providing the source for an inevitable dance party. They have earned a well-deserved reputation as a fierce live band with great performances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and other festivals.
They’ll also serve as the opening act for themselves. For their opening set, the band will perform as a Stereolab tribute band which they’ve dubbed Stereolad, in tribute to their pioneering punk-funk influence. The band says that they are doing this just for kicks and laughs because they want to, they like a challenge, and it was cheaper than hiring the real Stereolab. Also, frontman Nic Offer looks fantastic in a dress.
