It’s time to wake the bear! The producers of Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival have announced the inaugural Bear Creek Bayou Music Festival taking place September 30 – October 1, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana!
The two-day event will be steeped in the tradition of New Orleans funk music, while providing an eclectic mix of artists, powerful big bands on par with past Bear Creek headliners, and genre-defining performers in world and roots music, live electronica, rock, and everything in between.
Bear Creek Bayou will take place in the heart of New Orleans’ Warehouse District at Mardi Gras World. Situated along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River with views of the New Orleans skyline, the new venue is the perfect home for Bear Creek’s intimate funk filled vibe.
From 2007 to 2014, early November at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida meant only one thing… Bear Creek Music & Art Festival… which was always my favorite festival. Bear Creek went into hibernation last year due to the String Cheese Incident’s Halloween festival, Suwannee Hulaween, taking place at the same venue just two weeks before Bear Creek. With two big festivals back to back, something had to give, so Bear Creek took 2015 off and was also set to take 2016 off. I was hoping for a return of Bear Creek to Suwannee next year, which could still happen, but with this announcement I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
