I believe he’s brilliant. The first time I hear his voice he says, “I’ve got all the time in the world. Don’t you want some of it?” It’s 2014 and I’m editing our Best of 2014 article. Adam’s Best Song of 2014 (don’t judge us this article is super old) is “All The Time” by Afie Jurvanen aka Bahamas.

40 million Spotify streams later, he may have best album of 2018, Earthtones.

He’s real, while lighthearted, and somehow his song structure — the delivery is almost flirtatious. He sets the mood in your heart and draws a smirk on your lips.

With D’Angelo’s rhythm section backing him on the album (yeah, for real), Earthtones offers a humbling soul cleansing groove and it feels so good. I’ve listened to it 20 times and counting. Funny story of why it’s called Earthtones too, because he was wearing all beige everything — he got a beige guitar case, a beige cooler for his beer, a beige jumpsuit … really feeling earth tones. Inspiration was drawn from this picture of Kanye West he saw a few years ago dressed in all khaki everything and he thought it looked so good, he started doing it too. It really ties the tone of the album together. And, it’s hilarious.

Evan Taylor Jones would fit the journey of the evening perfectly if he’s available. We hope the planets align and the universe gifts us this.
