PREVIEW: 311 | Coming to House of Blues Orlando w/ The Movement | Monday, February 27, 2017

by • February 23, 2017

Soooo… on Monday, February 27, 311 will be returning to House of Blues Orlando for the first time since 2000 for a SOLD OUT show. They played HOB twice that year. To put this in a frame of reference, the two bands they played with at those shows were Zebrahead and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. Needless to say, it’s been a while. Since then, whenever they came to town, Hard Rock Live was the venue, with the exception of Earthday Birthday 2016 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. Otherwise, I would have to venture over to the Tampa or St. Augustine amphitheatres.

Check out my “Transistor” video below from their St. Augustine show last year, thanks to The Sober Goat! Also below, check out my playlist of the 311 & Sublime With Rome show from Tampa 07/23/2013!

As my fellow excitable one and Shows I Go To cohort, Trevor, said before, “There is a reason I go see 311 every time they come around. Not only are they one of the best live bands ever but they play an entirely different set list each night. I can’t even count how many times I have seen these guys live but I’ve never seen the same show twice.”

The Movement will be joining 311 and opening up the House of Blues show. The Movement claim their hometowns as Columbia, SC and Philadelphia, PA. However, I know that drummer Gary “Dread” Jackson resides in Orlando and has DJ gigs at several Orlando bars. I actually run into him at various reggae shows and other random places, including the grocery store one time (true story). I haven’t seen them live since Reggae On The Block 2016 in Downtown Orlando.

Check out my videos below of The Movement at Reggae On The Block 2016 and at The Social 10/29/2013, thanks to The Sober Goat!

311 AMBER ALE

311 is playing a private show in St. Pete the day after the Orlando show to celebrate the release of 311 Amber Ale in a can. Brewed in partnership with the multi-platinum rock band from Omaha, Nebraska – 311 Amber Ale shines bright as roasted Carmel Malts are blended with Equinox Hops, bringing subtle hints of tropical citrus and kush aromatics. Enjoy a smooth Amber Ale with a bit of hoppy complexity. Cheers!

ABV: 5.5%
IBUs: 25
Malts: 2-row, Munich, Caramel 60 & Special Roast
Hops: Columbus & LOADS of Equinox
